BOTANICAL WATER FROM THE GARDEN AT GLENMORE HOUSE

To capture the scent; the pure, ephemeral, intangible essence that seasonally imbues the garden air has long been a very personal dream…

THE STORY…

But to bring the dream (the whole of the dream) to fruition is still a work in progress, as the whole comes in two parts:

Part One is the FIELD OF FLOWERS PROJECT which as an idea has come to the fore, stalled, re-emerged and been put on the back-burner time and again ’til now…for some thirty plus years! Part Two to bottle aromatic BOTANICAL WATER from the plants in the garden…the ones I’ve chosen, planted, tended and nurtured, I’d thought would (given it requires a whole new skill set) up ’til this point, indeed come second.

Somehow though, as life would have it, in a flurry of excitement Part Two (the water) has unexpectedly eclipsed Part One (the field and its yield) in my hitherto anticipated timeline!

(That the two parts will ultimately combine into a unique workshop whose details I intend to hold close for some time yet is something I hope will keep you in suspense!). But I’ll be delighted to bring you on the Field Journey with me as it makes gentle progress, and hope you’ll join me for the ride.

My reasons for distillation are not those of the herbalist or aromatherapist for whom (quite rightly) the art of hydrosol distillation is wrapped in the medicinal and wellness realms. My intention is not for its use in a beauty or health regime (of course you can use it that way…just as you can spritz it on your washing or pour it into your bath)…perhaps when I produce greater quantities! But it makes no lofty claim…my purpose is meant for no reason other than...to lift your spirits, to make you smile…

Note….this is not a perfume to wear...but a hydrosol with which to mist your face for an evocative yet fleeting moment of delight...just as a rush of ephemeral scent on the breeze engulfs the senses, then it’s gone…

After much experimentation, learning the methods of distillaton on a traditional copper alembic still; capturing batch after batch after batch…and lab testing…

The FIRST BATCH IS READY FOR RELEASE!

In this very limited release (as they will only ever be) the aromatic leaves of Pelargonium capitatum ‘Attar of Rose’ (or Rose Geranium) batch #RGD1 were at their most potent; picked on the brink of bursting with cellular activity as the plants burgeoned into late winter flowering.

Distilled on a traditional copper alembic still and bottled to order into 10ml amber atomisers (so I can share this first batch among as many of you as possible) please keep the bottle so that I can refill it from the next anticipated batch.

Available in the Barn on Workshop and Event days and by appointment (when in stock) or by mail: please note mailer satchel, label and all packaging is fully compostable.

This aromatic botanical water or ‘hydrosol’ is perishable. It contains no preservatives, so refrigerate or keep at a cool, consistent temperature. Being entirely natural, the contents will continue to evolve on their transient journey, so it’s best to use rather than keep.

A hint of the garden in a bottle…captured in a traditional time-honoured way allowing me to share the joy of the garden here, with you there. Catch it briefly on the air while you can…just like life itself…

#RGD1 $22.00 10ml atomiser / $15 package & post (Australia only at this stage), total $37.00 (1 only per person please!) SOLD OUT! If you missed out on this first round, I’m so sorry…please contact me and I’ll be happy to pop your name on a list for the next available batch :))

Note: hydrosol doesn’t ‘pack a punch’ like perfume does…it is water…au naturel! But I have left the essential oil in…rather than separating it out…what a curious and captivating process it is!
