SPRING PERFUMERY & CANDLE MASTERCLASS

Summer on the breeze…

Hello everyone,

The thrill of inviting you to this intoxicating workshop has had me on the edge of my seat all year! I hope you will be just as excited as me about our SPRING PERFUMERY & CANDLE MAKING MASTERCLASS with CRAIG ANDRADE of THE RACONTEUR on SUNDAY 28 NOVEMBER.

By now you know the world of scent is one to which I’m particularly drawn…historically, botanically, emotionally. But the sheer joy of listening to someone talk about perfume from these perspectives as well as about the plants from which they derive, and to relaying how natural plant essences are captured and combined…that requires a raconteur. Hence my invitation to CRAIG ANDRADE aka THE RACONTEUR and now THE EMBASSY (Craig’s newly opened atelier in Paddington…..the world’s first perfumery dedicated to Australia’s native botanicals).

I first met Craig a few years ago when the scent emanating from the stall he was manning literally stopped me in my tracks. There was a hint of something in the air that caught me and I couldn’t drag myself away ’til I discovered it…and Craig’s story! That we began tripping over each other’s sentences in a wave of excited chatter was bound to end...in a workshop! I have so much to learn and Craig’s learning journey has taken him far…to far-flung destinations to solidify his knowledge, to discover growers of specific botanicals and to glamorous destinations to interpret bespoke essences that weave a perfumed tale for each of his clients. It’s a heady mix.

So how to combine my passion for pure garden scent and Craig’s expertise? Well…there’s nothing like having a garden at your fingertips, with living plant material to press and sniff to awaken the olfactory system. So to wander, listen, pick and press in the garden is exactly how we will begin a day of scentsational and conversational delight! On returning to the Dairy, Craig will expand upon the information shared in the morning’s walk, divulging the key elements of how to structure a fragrance between top, middle and base notes, consolidating the information you’ve taken in so far.

A seasonal, garden-inspired lunch will punctuate the day, after which you will be immersed in a CANDLE MAKING MASTERCLASS. From structuring fragrance alongside the topics of wax, wicks, vessels and temperatures, Craig will guide you as you make your very own candle with one of his custom fragrances. This sounds to me about as blissful a workshop as one might hope for!

How we hope you will be tempted to join us. All the details and the booking form are here and if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I hope I haven’t waxed lyrical too long…but you know me by now!

Very best wishes,

Mickey
