Jill at work….Alembics Lab
Hello everyone
How excited I am to release a one day ART OF DISTILLATION WORKSHOP with JILL MULVANEY of ALEMBICS LAB NZ on TUESDAY 26 SEPTEMBER.
Our two-day workshop the prior weekend sold out so quickly when news trickled out of Jill’s visit from over the ditch, we thought to make the most of her being here in real life whilst we have the opportunity. It’s difficult to prise Jill away from Waiheke Island where she and ALEMBICS LAB are located!
This one day workshop will be suitable whether your’re simply intrigued, keen to dabble or been tinkering for awhile. Learning the art of distillation is a life-long journey – with alchemy and botanicals at play. It’s going to be a very comprehensive day – Jill has mapped out one hell of an agenda…from hydrosol and essential oil to products for health, beauty and wellbeing, as she teaches the workings of a still in all its parts. You can read more about Jill and the schedule for the day along with the booking form here.
Jill is a fabulous, passionate and enthusiastic teacher. It was to her I turned when embarking on my own journey to capture the garden here in a bottle (having heard about her from a trusted source in the northern hemisphere who assured me that if I was hell bent on this voyage of discovery, Jill would be my guide). Back then, the idea that I might comprehend the machinations of a traditional copper alembic still were fantastical (me and anything to do with a lab-like-situation unimaginable!). But several years on…it’s another story…
Food-wise…I have a real treat in store! The capture of pure plant essence is of course, as much about our taste buds as our olfactory sense; and with all this distillation going on, I’ve invited Sivine and Karima of SUNDAY KITCHEN to capture the essence of this day on our plates. I’ll have more to share about this tremendous mother/daughter duo and their beautiful, evocative and nourishing food soon…but this little taster to compliment our ART OF DISTILLATION WORKSHOP will create a very unique experience indeed.
How we all look forward to seeing you here!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. There’s no need for any previous experience – remember that here, you are always amongst friends.
With very best wishes,
Mickey
