Luckily I captured the first poppy before the weather set in. The poor thing is rain-sodden now. Such fleeting beauty that is rarely repeated. Some open as single petals while others are deeply ruffled. If you can get hold of a copy of the October issue of Country Style….I discovered to my surprise (and delight!) a full page image of our peony poppies that was taken in another season. You wouldn’t think the two flowers had originated from the same seed, but they did. I wonder will a ‘Country Style’ version unfurl its pretty petals here yet…..there are many, many more in exquisite bud as I write…
