I ventured out to Parramatta on Saturday morning, to listen to a National Trust talk about the 200th anniversary crossing of the Blue Mountains.  I must admit that years seem to have passed since my last excursion out there, and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to re-visit Elizabeth Farm – my absolute favourite early Colonial property.

I’m going to show you only the mildest hint, a mere glimpse….of the most romantic house in the Colony (in my opinion anyway!), in hope of encouraging you to take yourself on a visit some time soon! There were some new slip covers on chairs since my last visit, the fire in the Drawing Room grate was warm and inviting and any of us might move in tomorrow.

To my great delight, much older versions of my aloes were looking spectacular in the garden.  I’ve long wanted one of those prickly succulents you see behind the aloes here.  I think it needs to go to the top of my wish list, don’t you?  (Elizabeth Farm is a Historic Houses Trust property).
