Event name: AUTUMN COOKING & LUNCH with DANIELLE ALVAREZ
AUTUMN COOKING & LUNCH with DANIELLE ALVAREZ, Saturday 22 April 2023
About Danielle Alvarez: @daniellealvarez
Danielle Alvarez cooks with both heart and mind…(so begins the lovely bio she sent me)…need I say more?
Born to a food-loving Cuban family in Miami, the lure of the kitchen first took her to California where she worked with some of America’s finest – first at The French Laundry, then Boulettes Larder and finally, four character forming years at Chez Panisse under David Tanis, Jean Pierre Moulle and Alice Waters; learning old-world techniques and an appreciation for making things from scratch; alongside valuable lessons in how food can play a role in social responsibility.
The next chapter lead Danielle to Sydney, where a serendipitous encounter led to the Merrivale Group asking her to design and head up what was to become their fabulous Paddington restaurant Fred’s. Winning fast acclaim, it was quickly rated amongt the best restaurants in the country.
In 2020 Danielle published her highly successful first book, Always Add Lemon. In 2022 following six years at the helm of Fred’s, she decided to press pause on restaurant life…a second cookbook is in the wings, and currently Danielle finds herself writing for various publicatios, sharing her love of cooking on TV shows and taking the opportunity to contemplate other projects that align with her values…
How excited I am that Danielle is coming to Glenmore!
