Event name: a Plant Based Farmhouse Workshop with Cherie Hausler
a PLANT BASED FARMHOUSE WORKSHOP with CHERIE HAUSLER, SUNDAY 02 JUNE
About CHERIE HAUSLER: @cherie_hausler www.allthethings.com.au
Food writer, food stylist, product and recipe developer, tea blender, restauranteur, presenter and cookbook author…
Cherie’s well-established Barossa-based food background explains her enthusiasm for good food and her passion for sharing the unique stories each producer has to tell.
While Sydney may have been the place Cherie gained experience on-air with 8 years in the TV industry, along with food writing for various magazines (including her own regular vegetarian column in Delicious magazine) the Barossa was the place she was really put through her paces, creating her own range of vegan products for the local Farmer’s Market, pop-up events, her own plant-based retail store and also 13 years consulting to Maggie Beer – writing, food styling and brand developing (Maggie has written the delightful foreword to Cherie’s book: A Plant Based Farmhouse).
More recently she created her own start-up “All The Things”, pioneering artisan, vegan, white mould cheeses, amongst a range of 20 products…the commond thread good food. All The Things TV was born from joining the dots in Cherie’s life thus far, to share the possibilities of sustainability and community-based focus, resulting in a particularly delicious way of life. Series 1 of All The Things TV is currently on SBS Food and SBS On Demand, and Series 2 aired on 7Plus nationally.
The latest project to take Cherie’s creative fancy is her new cookbook, A Plant Based Farmhouse: wherever she’s lived around the world, Cherie’s instinct has been to host ‘country gatherings’, bringing people together to share good food and good times. That passion grew when she returned home to the Barossa Valley to settle in an unrenovated 150 year old stone farmhouse on Koonunga Hill.
It’s there she tends a rambling edible garden, forages for wild olives, turns apples into cider vinegar, makes kombucha, bakes, blends (and drinks!) tea, tends to her animals and nurtures community connection through plant-based food.
Our Cooking Workshop: a Plant Based Farmhouse Cooking Workshop on Sunday 02 June:
Join us at 10am…when we’ll begin with morning tea and a delicious seasonal cake from one of Cherie’s recipes in A Plant Based Farmhouse. There are some beautiful recipes that tie in so neatly with our early winter season in the kitchen garden to explore; as well as some unusual staples and delights that I’ve highlighted for Cherie to cook and talk her way through…so you can ask a whole host of questions as she goes. And then…we’ll eat! I envisage a break in the garden to pick ingredients to contribute to what is going to be a delicious lunch…and the day will come to an end around 3.30/4.00. You’re always welcome to linger longer in the garden and to potter in the Barn.
Cost $295.00 per person 10am – 3.30 / 4 pm
