Event name: MID-SPRING GARDEN VISIT & LUNCH

MID-SPRING GARDEN VISIT & LUNCH, Friday 28 October 2022

Join us for the third in our series of mini (ie not-quite-open-garden) events! The first, our winter celebration was enormous fun and led the way; the second, our early spring morning tea with oh-so-many cakes was next!  (If you’ve been receiving newsletters for awhile now, you will know I’ve decided against the kind of huge open gardens of old (at least for now) and instead to invite you to visit the garden over a series of intimate events, each with its very own atmosphere.

This one, on FRIDAY 28 OCTOBER will celebrate the beauty of mid-spring with a GARDEN VISIT & LUNCH.

The order of the day will run as follows:

12.00 noon arrive at the Hayshed for a little teacup of scented veg broth to restore you after your journey here (and we’ll tick your name off the list – this is a strictly ticketed event). Take a garden wander; familiarise yourself with all its parts, see the field (which ought to be awash with flowers by then!) walk the labyrinth, take your time…

1.00 pm We’ll toll the bell to call you in to Lunch (as if you are workers in the field!). No need to rush…this won’t be formally seated…more collect a plate of just-made seasonal risotto and leaf & petal salad from the garden, then find a spot to eat. We’ll set up  some tables and chairs informally…a couple in the Dairy, one in the Hayshed, and weather depending…dot some little ones around but you may also like to bring a picnic rug and pop yourself under a tree.

2.00 pm Tea, Coffee, Ice Cream & Shortbread will be available in the Dairy

2.15 pm The Barn will open…at last new stock of dresses should have arrived so take the opportunity to try one on for size. There are some beautiful handmade fans just in from Ghana (thinking of the hot months ahead) alongside favourite linen tea towels, gardener’s nail brushes, veg brushes, enamel ware and of course, the hat!***

You’re welcome to wander and linger longer in the garden. We’ll aim to close the gates behind the last visitors by 4pm.

Do take the opportunity to ask me the myriad questions so many of you save for a visit! I’ll be very happy to chat all things garden..from the kitchen garden to the field, scent and the ornamental too.

Please contat me if you have any questions. I’ll much look forward to seeing you here!

*I do ask that you please not attend if you feel unwell on the day…let me know as soon as possible and I’ll attempt to fill your space if that’s the unfortunate case.

**The day will go ahead rain, hail or shine! Some of my best visits to gardens over the years have been in the rain, but of course I’ll hope for the most exquisite mid-spring day! Whatever the weather, please come sensibly shod!

*** You can pre-order Botanical Water/s here (Rose Geranium, Orange Blossom, Lavender) and I’ll have them bottled and waiting for you!
