Rather funny to find myself pottering about buildings of historic significance twice in the same week, but I do enjoy early Australian colonial buildings – and this collection, at Belgenny Farm (not far from here), has some of the earliest. While I was participating in a local design forum initiative yesterday, I had a quick wander and once again enjoyed that sense of excitement at buildings made for practical use, yet whose features are decorative in the most handsome manner. From weighty rusted hinges to louvered ‘lights’, faded timbers and corrugated iron.
Weathered texture, faded colour…..a fine collection of buildings sitting firmly in the landscape on a glorious autumn day.
But I really DO need to get back to the garden!
