How typical it is that great loads of flowers should be ready to collect when I have no need for a massive arrangement? But I HAD to cut them before they spilled their seed everywhere, which would only cause complete and utter havoc next season! I should never have let them get so out of control (in the asparagus bed), but they looked so divine. They are the flowers of leaf Amaranth and regular visitors to Glenmore will be familiar with their feathery plumes.
Too many for even my largest tins, bins & vases, I’ve hung them up to dry. Not sure what the result might be (except for a pool of seed on the floor). Participants at our February Kitchen Gardening Day will be the first to find out….
