What an enormous weekend at The Collectors’ Plant Fair! So many friendly faces…..so many enticing plants!
I thought I’d drop in this image of the passenger footwell of my car on the last return journey from the fair! i’m always struck by this most delightful aspect of such a weekend…a combination of beauties homeward bound, who may never sit side by side again. How enchanting they were together….the Iron Cross Begonia, Porcupine Quill Rush and delicate, speckled-apricot blooms of the Orchid Degarmoara Olympia ‘Jacqui’ Together they are magic, but already have been separated: Begonia to the verandah, Orchid to the sitting room, Rush to the hayshed. Oh but they made a glorious picture together for just a moment in time!
They sat well on my pretty plant stands, mellow….with faded clay pots, trugs, zinc-ware and wicker baskets, potting riddles, fennel seed and a peek-a-boo pumpkin or two….all surrounded by tunnels & wigwams we built of black bamboo as an enclosure.
Well….the fun of the fair is over for now. Already I’m looking forward to a repeat performance this time next year!
