Some days are just overwhelming I think, as I sit here in the afternoon’s golden light, feeling mildly dizzy with endeavour! I’ve stored away the latest batches of Elderflower Cordial & Fig Jam….

Sorted those beans I mentioned yesterday….

Picked the Speckled Cranberry, as well as the Australian Butter, Purple King & Scarlet Runners.…

Harvested a huge armful of dried Fennel flowers (contemplating taking them to Garden Life next Saturday). I laid out an old sheet on the ground so as not to lose too much seed…

And now it’s time to make a batch of pesto from the mountain of basil I just dropped onto the kitchen bench! The roses have been deadheaded, the zinnias too, dahlias tomorrow, but I did plant a non-grafted Passionfruit I discovered a few weeks ago & have been wondering where it should go. There are tomatoes, figs, Cape Gooseberries, nasturtium flowers, roses & a bunch of herbs on the kitchen windowsill.
What bounty to enjoy in return for a hard day’s work! Filthy, sweaty, two bee stings. But a very happy autumn gardening Saturday nonetheless!
