‘Tis the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature is stirring, except for THIS mouse….!

Well – WHAT a day!  The cooktop has been on overdrive all day, the dishwasher on repeat wash.  It began with a serious bout of garden watering and the heat both inside and out was extreme.  Plants were decanted from plastic pots to indoor cachepots and sheets baked in the sun.  Then the storms rolled in – all thunder & lightening as the beaters whirled around in the bowl of brandy butter! The summer pudding is bedded down, the soup base blitzed. Peaches poached, Court bouillon safely stored, cumquat ice cream frozen, hummus and a poached chook are in reserve.  With any luck, no cooking (except for the salmon) will be required for a couple of days.

The children and husband are all snug in their beds and I’m so tired it wouldn’t surprise me if Santa appeared down the chimney!  The rain pitter patters on the tin roof, and with any luck, the hydrangeas will spring back into life tomorrow so that I can pick an armful.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
