I guess its time to leave the days of beach-combing behind and get back to reality. Not that I mind….as the garden is so much a part of my life and brings simple joys each day (which make the hardship of keeping it going worthwhile!). I am NOT looking forward to today’s expected temperature of 43 degrees and it’s a lot to ask of a plant to bear up to the conditions too.
Each summer’s day begins with the dragging of hoses and sprinklers, followed by ‘battening down the hatches’ of the house and hoping like mad there is no wind or fire.
And yet….there are tomatoes, aubergines, zucchinis, beans and potatoes; cucumbers and capsicum on the way and just enough basil for pistou…..I must be getting something right!
