A few weeks ago, we got to talking about how much the three stone pines we planted as tube stock about twenty years ago, had grown. This led us to querying whether perhaps they might be producing pine nuts yet? A little exploratory investigation yielded just a few pine cones and our daughter thought she’d have a try at prising them apart.
To our delight, seeds popped out of the inner part of the cone….
And with some fiddly work, each seed yielded one pine nut! I now understand why they’re always rather expensive! This was a most exciting discovery….now we just need a few hours to sit down and
