Growing potatoes is enormous fun and very, very rewarding.  I have about 6 different varieties in this year and some are faring better than others.  But I ALWAYS grow King Edwards for their pretty pink markings and beautiful texture.  They make perfect ‘new potatoes’, tossed in olive oil & mint & they’re delicious either warm or cold the next day.  This year I planted the red salad potato for the first time and its proved to be a great success.  Doesn’t it look divine with the King Edwards?

Despite the wretched 28-spotted ladybirds’ very best attempt to decimate this year’s crop, there is still plenty of treasure to be dug from deep in the earth of the potato beds….
