They’ve been flowering for weeks now! I so look forward to their late winter / early spring blooms each year. The utter simplicity of their open, blotched faces as they nod in the breeze. Whether basking in the heat of the drystone wall beneath the flowering lavender along the drive….
or massed down the centre of the apple arch in the Kitchen Garden. This year they’ve taken over the path in front of the deep green hedge and are flourishing around fence posts and picket gates .
If you look carefully, you might find up to three bees humming in each flower cup. So they’re doing their duty of bringing in the pollinators, as well as looking enchanting. But I’ll do my best to capture their seed heads, to save in paper bags before their seed escapes into the wild….
