I so love these colours of winter, when much is bare save green hedges and evergreen herbs, like rosemary and thyme, with the odd spike of lavender coming to the fore.  Purple podded peas and deeply textured blue/green Tuscan kale are potent examples and make for happy combinations indeed. 


The peas, once shelled and blanched are brightest green and look and taste delicious tossed with a few leaves of cavolo nero…
