I’m truly struggling here….and I know why!  The elegant quince blossom is cupped towards the sky…and each and every flower is taller than me!  (So I had to hold the branch down with one hand….).  I so, so love the quinces in flower – I think because the trees aren’t smothered in blossom, but interspersed with fresh green leaves (see my earlier posts on ‘spot flowers’).  They’re understated and so very beautiful.

We really have a problem producing an actual quince here – we can get quite humid during the summer, and if its a wet season there’s virtually no chance.  Then there are the sulphur crested cockatoos….and the fruit fly!  But this year I’ve pruned hard, so we should be able to get a net over the trees and I’ve been SUCH a good girl and got my fruit fly traps out already (well, the male ones anyway).  So maybe, just maybe, we might get a few good fruit….
