Leek seed heads in various lifecycle stages hang from the open window as the rain pitter patters on the tin roof above. Still-life to begin the day. There was plenty more ‘show & tell’ on display to emphasise the moment of seasonal change and the jobs that lie ahead.
As the rain eases slightly, Linda moves her intense & descriptive morning session out into the garden for close inspection. Laid out in seasonal pattern, it makes for a simple, straightforward teaching tool for participants to learn the principles of good organic Kitchen Gardening. Usually at this time of year, we’d be shading ourselves from the heat with Chinese paper parasols, but you’ll never hear me complain about rain….
While I duck in & out of the pantry to collect from the garden or add something to the class, it’s preparing the lunch that takes up the majority of my morning. Here, with Brian (who helps in the garden once a week and in the kitchen with me on event days), we prepare zucchini & prosciutto pastries (a last minute decision as the weather chilled & I reckoned something warm would be needed!).
