Crop rotation…a time of bounty and transition…
Hello everyone,
It’s at this time of year the kitchen garden has me in a whirl of excitement! With bountiful baskets contributing a profusion of produce to the kitchen bench, seasonal crop rotation ensures energetic exercise – as I shovel barrow-loads of compost and build structures, before the gentle activity of planting out and sowing seed. All this in the midst of the remains of a season on the wane – a froth of beauty that shelters good bugs while seed cures on tall stems for the next round and provides shade to new sowings on those intermittent days of searing heat that we’re inclined to experience at this time of year.
It’s to this scene I invite you this coming SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER (no shovelling required!). An opportunity to seize the moment whilst there’s still good time to implement all the encouragement you will glean for the season ahead – one that’s bound to provide rampant and glorious growth, that’s both visually compelling and productive.
While MID-SPRING in the KITCHEN GARDEN will cover all the growing basics, it will be relevant for whatever stage you may be at: whether planning (or dreaming of) a future garden, or you’re already underway; for peeps with gardens large or small – with examples of planting combinations for the tiniest of spaces as well as for those who have space to sprawl. All days in the kitchen garden here are an introduction to a way of life…one of sustenance on so many levels, where you discover plentiful reward for effort spent…in living a kitchen gardening way of life.
