It may be stinking hot, but during the course of the last couple of weeks, there has been no choice but to cut back the garden hard. I do it each year (one day a week with Brian, the weekends on my own). Though physically, it’s not a job I look forward to; and aesthetically, it leaves the garden rather bare….it’s the way to a beautiful autumn flush AND, the beginning of next season’s magnificent soil for the Kitchen Garden, as here in this mountain of spent vegetation, is the beginning of the new compost heap! And I’m not quite finished yet……
