Simple sunflowers….I place them high on my list of favourite things! However I know full well, that they are to sulphur-crested cockatoos, like a red rag to a bull! Which is why I can’t have them in the Kitchen Garden where I would so love to sow their seed, for their height and sense of good cheer. I shouldn’t plant them at all, but I just can’t help myself….so I grow them ‘down the back’, where it doesn’t matter quite so much! This splendid vision built up slowly, over the course of a month or so. I knew it couldn’t last, and sure enough, the birds swooped last week, and there are but a few sad flowers left.
But of course, I’ll do it all over again next year!
