I sow sunflower seed with great anticipation each year….particularly down at the pumpkin patch where I hope for a naive display of rampant growth. Their tightly furled buds remind me of those beautiful Chinese tea flowers that open in slow motion as they steep in hot water.
The sunflowers take longer than the tea buds to fully open – this one looks like it needs a little help with a mascara wand!
And now I just pray those Sulphur Crested Cockatoos don’t descend to wreak havoc….
