Do you remember a couple of weeks ago, when I alluded to the fact that we rarely eat a tomato at Glenmore before Christmas? Well here they are, right on cue! Costoluto Fiorentino, Black Russian, Purple Russian, Black & Red, Sugarlump, Yellow Pear & Black Cherry, with another couple of varieties on the way.
Not without a good dose of primping & preening though…I spent several hours today with a ball of string & a pair of secateurs (training & removing diseased foliage which can be rife in these humid conditions). They’re worth every minute the job takes though, and anyway, touching or cutting tomato leaves yields the most wonderful scent, even if it does literally leave you with green fingers!
