Late last month, I was delighted to host a food photography workshop with Luisa Brimble and Emiko Davies, to celebrate the release of Emiko’s new cookbook Florentine. It was a magical day of excitable participants, shared information, tantalising aromas, delicious food and an overwhelming sense of camaraderie and fun.
On the day Noha Serageldin, Matters of the Belly (a hungry Egyptian in Oz) thought she’d attempt an experimental video. Although she says she was just playing (this time!) she truly captured the essence of the day. You can view the charming result of her efforts here: just scroll down through her blogpost ’til you reach the video and I’m sure it will put a lighthearted spring in your step for the day!
Emiko’s book is sitting on the end of my kitchen bench and I can’t wait to have a moment to experiment with her recipes (though one I did at least get to taste on the day was her Grape Focaccia and oh my goodness…..yum!). I’ve invited Emiko to run a Cooking Day at Glenmore when she visits home again next year, so that really will be an event to look forward to. In the meantime, a big thank you to Luisa for pulling the day together and so generously sharing her boundless energy, enthusiasm, technique and love of life, as usual, with all.
