SPRING GARDEN VISIT & LUNCH at GLENMORE HOUSE

A bygone 28 October…of course what eventuates this year will depend entirely upon Mother Nature!

Hello everyone,

Next in the rolling ‘series of garden events’ as promised is the MID-SPRING GARDEN VISIT & LUNCH on FRIDAY 28 OCTOBER. Hard to imagine in this week’s weather I know, but there’s bound to be a reprieve once this current system moves through (and on the whole, the garden is enjoying the wet!).

Mid-spring is a time of enormous change in the garden…as the delicate early blossoms morph into something more substantial (whilst the atmosphere is still light and spring-like, rather than heady, like those early days of summer on the way).

It’s a lovely time to visit, whatever the weather, and I would simply love to see you here!

I plan for the day to unfold along these lines:

12.00 noon Arrive at the Hayshed for a little cup of refreshing scented veg broth (and to tick your name off  the list). Take a leisurely turn around the garden to familiarise yourself with all its parts.

1.00 pm We’ll begin to plate a seasonal, garden-inspired risotto, accompanied by a leaf & petal salad. (No need to rush…we’ll toll the bell so you know it’s time to gently make your way to the Dairy). This won’t be a formal lunch…although we’ll have some tables and chairs at which to perch; you may choose to sit on a bench, or bring a picnic blanket and sit under a tree, or move one or two of our folding chairs to a possie with a favourite view.

2.00 pm Tea, coffee, ice-cream & shortbread will be on offer and at 2.15 I’ll open the Barn. The dresses should have arrived by then, so you can try one on for size…and a hat to see how that wired brim can be manipulated to suit your face! Test-mist the Botanical  Waters, collect a teatowel or two; a veg-brush, gardener’s nail brush, enamelware or pick up a delightful handmade elephant grass fan for those undoubted hot days ahead. I should have fresh seed to share by then too.

The Field of Flowers will be coming into its own, so be one of the very first to see it shaping up for its first proper spring! I have so much to tell you on this front…watch for details coming soon!

If you would like to order a Botanical Water or two to collect on the day, please let me know. All three…Rose Geranium, Orange Blossom and Lavender will be available for you to collect. I just need to know in advance so I can calmly, quietly and patiently take out my pipettes and pre-bottle them for you. Of course, they would make delightful gifts for the season ahead…a little hint of the garden here to share with your family and friends!

There will be plenty of time to wander, dally, chat and linger…I imagine we’ll aim to close the gates behind the last visitors by 4pm. Numbers will be very strictly limited (there’s only so much risotto we can make in the very big pan!).

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. All the details and the booking form are here and I will much look forward to seeing you!

With very best wishes

Mickey

ps for those planning ahead…I’ve altered the date of the last in this round of unique garden events, the TWILIGHT VISIT from Saturday 26 to SUNDAY 27 NOVEMBER (out of courtesy to a local charity event which incidentally you might also like to attend: Opera in the Barn at Denbigh). Why not make a full day out, or even tie it in to a weekend away and miss the traffic on the way back to the big smoke? I’ll  release details of this one very soon.
