Poppy pod after shedding its petals…
Hello everyone,
The long journey to the peony poppy crescendo is gaining pace, with a new specimen unfurling daily! The ruffled ones have joined the singles now, with a double here and there…some are clear as candy pink, others soft as a powder puff; but fully clothed or minus their petals, each and every one is simply exquisite.
I invite you to join those early-bird participants who were quick to pounce when I released the details of our POETRY OF THE POPPY ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP with artist ROSE COLBECK on SATURDAY 22 OCTOBER. There are a good clutch of them with just a handful of places left, and the fleeting vision of specimens on high in the garden is truly not to be missed! I’ve never sown them around the orchard trees before and well...it’s rather fun…and all in the name of creating a workshop to remember!
As I write here, I know Rose is preparing all kinds of illustrative delights to make you sigh…she’s drawing, tinting, playing with her watercolours…making little packs of mementos (there’s no stopping her once an idea takes hold and this one has seemingly run away with her imagination!). Her enthusiasm is infectious and it’s simply going to be the most fabulous day of immersion in nature’s beauty and detail. No previous experience is required…it will simply be about enjoying the experience itself (although you will definitely leave with a bounty!). All the details and the booking form are here.
On another note, the MID-SPRING GARDEN VISIT & LUNCH on FRIDAY 28 OCTOBER is shaping up to be a lovely mother/daughter/best-friends day. So far it’s all girls…young, old and in-between…blokes are welcome! We have a lovely contingent but there’s space for more, so think if there’s a friend you’d like to treat to an idyllic day out with a gentle atmosphere. The garden is (despite being regularly waterlogged)…on track! All the details and the booking form are here.
And…drumroll please...the new season’s AROMATIC BOTANICAL WATERS are ready to go! Rose Geranium #D1/22 from the ‘sprinter’ distillation is divinely crisp and fragrant; the Orange Blossom #D1/22 is from the season’s first blossoms and honestly...a gentle mist puts one in mind of complete immersion in an exotic orange grove; while summer’s Lavender distillation #D1/22 is travelling beautifully – a spritz is enough to transport you instantly to Provence (minus the hassle of getting there!). The waters are like a magic carpet ride for your imagination…and your soul. Here is the link to the Botanical Water Page. You can choose to collect here if you’re coming to an event in the coming weeks, otherwise I’ll bottle and post next week…so be quick – they’re all in limited supply!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’ll very much hope to see you here in the coming weeks…the garden is doing such lovely spring things!
Best wishes as always,
Mickey
