Follow-up Twilight Garden Visit

Summer and the festive season are coming…and nothing says is quite like hydrangeas!*

Hello everyone,

In yesterday’s excited Field of Flowers frenzy, I realise I included the wrong date for the TWILIGHT GARDEN VISIT & AFTERNOON TEA on SUNDAY 27 NOVEMBER. It is not 20 November…oh dear…!!

I do apologise for sending news two days in a row…I always promise that you won’t be inundated but I needed to correct my mistake! So while I’m here…I’ll tell you what was on my mind for next week’s proposed newsletter (which was going to be a twilight reminder) so as not to bombard you again!

For those who are coming to the TWILIGHT VISIT, I propose that we meet in the kitchen garden for a little personal tour, because at this particular moment in time it’s at one of its most beautiful stages in the year…a lovely one to absorb.

It represents a combination of the haphazard…the wind-blown and self sown in full flight alongside the very deliberate sequential planting of vegetable family groups. With selective food foraging (much more interesting than weeding!) crop rotation, companion planting and seed collecting all currently in flux, I would be very happy to explain (to anyone interested) what on earth is going on! There’s only so much that can be conveyed in an Instagram reel and it’s so much more interesting to see in real life…

So as part of the TWILIGHT GARDEN VISIT I hope you’ll meet mein the KITCHEN GARDEN! I’ll aim for about 6pm (as soon as I’m out of the Barn!). Which brings me to…the Barn itself:

New stock ESSENTIAL WORK DRESSES have arrived (with early bird orders posted, there’s a limited number, but it’s a good opportunity to try one on for size and a perfect time of year to have one in your cupboard). I have HATS..and (limited) copies of The House and Garden at Glenmore (I’m running out of them!). You’ll find my favourite linen tea towels, gardener’s nail brushes, veg brushes, Dutch brooms, handcream…and the handwoven fans from Ghana that I so love – ideal for steamy, hot summer days. All in all, there are lots of small, practical and beautiful wares that combined, just may solve a festive dilemma.

And…of course…there will be the opportunity to pick up a BOTANICAL WATER or two…or three! I will bottle pre-orders for collection late next week, so please don’t forget to order in advanceThen I can have them here ready and waiting for you: Rose Geranium, Orange Blossom and Lavender.

There’s the rest of the garden to explore too..and old-fashioned sandwiches, elderflower cordial, a cup of tea, ice-cream, shortbread…

All in all, the TWILIGHT GARDEN VISIT is going to be rather enchanting. All the details and the booking form are here.

This will be the last in our series of intimate garden events…and indeed the final event for the year (unless I sneak in an impulsive Field of Flowers Workshop). What a way to bring a year of enormous tumult to a close…I will so hope to see you here!

With very best wishes,

Mickey

ps Thank you for the flurry of Field of Flowers responses!
