PAUL BANGAY, in Conversation and Lunch at Glenmore House

A glorious read…A Life in Garden Design, Paul Bangay

Hello everyone,

I am particularly excited to invite you to this very special event on WEDNESDAY 01 MAY for a CONVERSATION with PAUL BANGAY andLUNCH by THE WHAT IF SOCIETY.

I’m sure Paul Bangay needs no introduction to most of you reading along here. Perhaps this country’s most revered landscape garden designer, Paul is also a delightful conversationalist and happy storyteller who has enjoyed a life immersed in plants, seen every style of garden design come and go during his long-established career and travelled the world extensively in pursuit of knowledge, gardens and beauty.

I have no doubt many of you have at least one of Paul’s gardening books on your shelves (he’s been inspiring us all with his exquisite gardens for so very many years) but his latest: A Life in Garden Design is a very personal account that you will simply delight in reading. I don’t want to spoil the tales and adventures those pages hold (where encouraged by environmentally conscious parents, we meet Paul as a little boy with his first garden making, follow him through his landscape garden design studies, meet the people who have peppered, mentored and inspired his life along the way and glean insight to the myriad gardens he has created)…I want to save all of that for our conversation on May 1st!

As I can’t play the role of interlocutor with Paul and cook lunch at the same time...what if (I thought) I invite Eilish Maloney to take over the kitchen that day? We’ve been trying to hatch a plan for THE WHAT IF SOCIETY to visit Glenmore for ages, and this opportunity to introduce you to Eilish (if you haven’t yet made a visit to either of her establishments in Moss Vale or Burrawang in the Southern Highlands) seems like the perfect combination, solution, collaboration!

Before a seasonally-inspired lunch at the long table though, there will be plenty of time for Q&A and of course Paul will be delighted to sign copies of his magnificent book. You can pre-order a copy at the time of booking so we’re sure to have them available on the day.

With the deciduous trees here in colourful flight, I can’t imagine a more dazzling way to spend the very first day of May!

All the details and the booking form are here and if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. In order to ensure enough copies of the book are here though (and so as not to miss out on a place) I urge you to make a quick move!

This is one to grab your best gardening buddy, treat a friend, partner, parent…or budding young garden designer. How Paul and I and Eilish too, look forward to seeing you here.

With very best wishes as always,

Mickey
